Brian Lucey Immersive Masterclass
Brian Lucey Immersive Masterclass

November 10-11 | 10AM–5PM | $995

Mastering engineer of nine Grammy Award winners, including the latest Record of the Year immersive component, LA-based Brian Lucey comes to Sweetwater Studio’s Studio B for this comprehensive, two-day masterclass.

Brian, who develops new ideas daily, is one of the leading thinkers in this new format, having worked with the best and studied the rest. This seminar will clarify the most efficient principles for delivering top tier musical work in Spatial Audio, Dolby Binaural, and Dolby Atmos for speakers.

The major focus will be on working from stems, although a bespoke mixer will also benefit from the many physics-focused elements presented.  Brian will be showing powerful techniques that can be adopted quickly by mixers at all experience levels. These ideas are not presently available online.

His recent work includes Mac Miller’s Swimming, the Teskey Brothers’ The Winding Way, Emilie Nicholas’s “Limits” single, Eric J’s “Frisson Trigger” single, and Lizzo’s latest three full records.

This workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced participants.

In this Masterclass Brian will cover:

  • Defining the complete checklist for top level work in this format
  • Getting there in the most time efficient way
  • Beating the stereo master in headphones
  • Center Tunnel punch and power in a world of DSP smear
  • Simultaneously working on Speakers/Spatial/Binaural vs. the Stereo Master
  • Redefining mixing for this format more accurately
  • Redefining mastering for this format more accurately
  • Creating the most effective stems – which ones and how many
  • Mixing intelligently with headphones only for Spatial and Binaural
  • Analyzing the best and worst of current Spatial/Atmos releases
  • Exploring examples from Brian’s 24 bit ADM catalog in a Trinnov Tuned Room.
  • Working on attendees projects, as time allows.
