Join Sweetwater Studios’ Shawn Dealey for a one-day intensive recording workshop with Dagon Tales – Robben Ford, Darrell Jones, Larry Goldings and Gary Husband as we take a song from start to finish in Studio A. Shawn will take you through the process of everything from setting up the studio for recording to tracking and overdubbing all the way through editing and mixing. You’ll learn to comp, edit, mix, apply EQ and effects, and make final decisions to perfect your mix. Your experience in this workshop will help you draw out the best in the musicians’ projects you record in your own studio.
This workshop is based around the creative recording process. We use Avid Pro Tools, but all the techniques can be used in a variety of different workflows. We recommend you have a basic knowledge of recording and some experience working in a DAW to attend this class.

Shawn’s engineering can be heard on projects with industry heavyweights such as Gavin Brown, Rob Cavallo, Rob Wells, Steve Albini, and Brian Deck. He’s contributed to numerous albums that have garnered nominations for the Polaris Music Prize, charted on the Billboard Top 10, and Earshot Canadian College Radio charts, and many have won multiple Western Canadian Music Awards.
Dragon Tales is an informal group of touring and session musicians, comprised of five-time Grammy nominated guitarist Robben Ford (Miles Davis, George Harrison, Joni Mitchell), bassist Darrell Jones (The Rolling Stones, Miles Davis, Sting), pianist Larry Goldings (James Taylor, Norah Jones, Sia), and drummer Gary Husband (Jeff Beck, Miles Davis, Quincy Jones).
